Delete your account & data
Last updated · 21 May 2026
You can remove your data from ExTraP at any time, either by deleting your whole account in one step or by deleting individual items (trips, photos, comments, AI conversations) one at a time. This page lays out exactly what happens, what disappears, and what we keep for legal reasons.
Option A — Delete your whole account
From inside the app
- Sign in to extrap.cotek.app/app/settings
- Scroll down to the Your data section
- Click Delete my account
- Type DELETE to confirm
The action is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and we cannot undo it. The session signs out automatically and you're redirected to the public homepage.
By email request
If you can't access your account (lost password, expired invite, etc.) email support@cotek.live from the email address on the account. Subject line: Delete my account. We'll verify ownership and complete the deletion within 7 calendar days.
Option B — Delete individual items only
Most of what you create in ExTraP can be removed without touching the rest of your account.
- Trips — open the trip → click Edit details → scroll to Delete this trip
- Items (restaurants, sights, etc.) — click the trash icon next to the row in the trip's itinerary
- Hotels & stays — click the trash icon on each stay card
- Transport legs (flights, trains) — click the trash icon on each leg
- Expenses — open the trip's Budget page → click the trash icon next to each row
- Photos and documents — open the gallery → click on a photo → Delete
- Journal comments you posted — hover over your comment on any journal → click the X icon
- Published journals — open the trip → Share page → Unpublish. (Note: search-engine caches can take several days to clear after unpublish.)
- AI conversations — open Assistant in the sidebar → click the menu next to a thread → Delete thread
Option C — Export your data first
Before deleting, you can download everything we hold about you as a single JSON file. Settings → Your data → Export JSON. You can also export a single workspace as a print-ready PDF from the same screen.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, these are removed permanently and cannot be recovered:
- Your user profile (name, email, password hash, profile photo)
- Workspaces where you're the sole owner, including all their trips, items, hotels, transport, expenses, photos, comments, and AI conversations
- Your membership in shared workspaces (the workspace continues to exist for the other owners; trips you owned are reassigned to a remaining owner)
- All your journal comments (across any journal, including ones on other people's journals)
- All your journal saves (bookmarks of other people's published trips)
- Your reactions on items, your trip-collaborator grants, your invitation history
- All AI assistant conversations you started
- All photos and documents you uploaded
What we keep
A small set of records survives account deletion, only for as long as legally required:
- Billing records (if you ever subscribed) — kept by Stripe and on our side for 7 years to comply with UAE tax regulations. These records contain the subscription amount, date, and your email — nothing about your trips.
- Audit logs of the deletion itself — a single timestamped row noting that your account ID was deleted, kept for 12 months for fraud-prevention and to handle any later disputes. No personal data, just the timestamp.
- Backups — our database backups run for 30 days. Your deleted data may persist in those backups until they roll over. We don't use backups to restore deleted accounts.
- Server logs — request logs (IP, timestamp, URL path) live for 14 days for security and debugging. No request bodies, no personal data beyond the IP.
If something doesn't work
Email support@cotek.live. We respond within 2 business days. Identify the email on your ExTraP account and what you'd like deleted.
